DHL Supply Chain, the Americas leader in contract logisticsand part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has deployed a Control Towersolution to support the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines withinNorth America and internationally. The company will providecustomized technology and a dedicated team of experts to performkey logistics functions around-the-clock and increase visibility ofthe supply chain from the moment when orders are received throughto the final delivery. The first shipments were processed lastweek, with DHL Supply Chain providing support in planning andallocating orders to the major parcel carriers charged withdelivering the first waves of vaccine doses in the U.S. andmonitoring each individual order through to their finaldestination.
The solution leverages the DHL Supply Chain’s TransportationManagement System – a single technology platform that bringstogether the multiple applications and processes needed to steer acompany’s transportation operation – to allow the vaccinemanufacturer to benefit from the advanced technology andcapabilities of a global logistics leader. It includes customizedfeatures developed specifically for the customer, as well as accessto proprietary tools such as MySupplyChain, which provides greatercontrol over orders and real-time visibility on shipments intransit.
